Rick Hopper, Special Education Parent and Consultant/StrategistHello, my name is Richard Hopper.  I have a law degree from American University and have served on Loudoun County’s Disabilties Services Board.  More importantly, however, as a parent of a child with a disabilty of brittle bones, I have worked with the school system for the past 18 years in drafting IEP’s, ensuring the school’s complaince with IEP’s (including filing IEP complaints and appeals), and filing due process complaints.  I have also seen what works and what doesn’t work.  As such, I thought that I should make myself available to other students with disabilities and their parents who struggles with the intricacies of the special education process, including the development of plans and IEP’s for their children and insuring their compliance by the school system.
